Our Provincial Mandate

Communitech’s provincial mandate is to help regions across Ontario build cohesive, robust technology clusters.
We do this by:
Growing a technology cluster is difficult and many choices present themselves to organizations that attempt it. Not only must they decide where to apply their resources – they must also decide how. We’ll share our experiences, approaches and lesson-learned with these groups, offering strategic consulting and best-practices as they apply to:
- Regional analysis
- Government relations
- Executive-in-residence and mentoring programs
- Peer development programs
- Community building
- Messaging and international advocacy
The presence of mature technology clusters across Ontario is in everyone’s best interest. We’ll apply our financial, professional and experiential resources to help other regions create jobs, wealth and to put the province as a whole on a global technology stage.
We are a bold, restless organization that appreciates how quickly technology leaves people, companies and even countries behind. We’ll take up the flag for improving Ontario’s global competitiveness in the technology sector — we’ll lead and scrape our knees so that other organizations don’t have to.
We are committed to creating a ‘democracy of expertise’ across the province. By helping other organizations grow and learn, we hope to build a community of communities where battle-tested expertise and shared resources are available to every entrepreneur — regardless of geography.
By bringing startups, academic institutions, executive mentors, service companies and project teams from multinational companies under one roof, the Communitech HUB represents a unique approach to commercializing ideas. We are, in effect, building a micro-ecosystem, and we’ll link what we learn to sister organizations across the province.
Using the Resources of Today to Develop the Technology of Tomorrow
The province of Ontario is investing in an aggressive innovation agenda with a focus on seizing global market opportunities. Communitech looks forward to contributing to this agenda and building on the strength of Ontario’s creative, diverse, and highly skilled workforce.
