There is an opportunity in ever-expanding needs for new web and/or mobile-based software applications coupled with a shortage of talented people to build those apps. With Communitech’s App Factory (AF) Program, we’re looking to fill the talent gap that hampers progress.
The AF Program aims to discover and execute upon ideas by developing apps that have commercial relevance. We envision the AF will produce prototype or proof-of-concept creations that can in turn be used by the idea sponsor.
The AF program is planned to commence as an 8-month pilot project from May-Dec 2011. Apps development will be carried out by a team of students from across Canada who will work on a four-month rotating basis. Students will be selected based on previous relevant work experience in this field. The team will be led by an experienced software developer. In addition, a commercialization advisory group (CAG) has been assembled to determine eligibility, vet and prioritize applications. A second technical advisory group (TAG) has been assembled to impact and mentor execution of projects.
How can I use it?
The Apps Factory has been set up to help you get started on your web and/or mobile app ideas. We’ve assembled a team within a supportive environment that will be working for and with you; creating apps you want and need.
When?
Currently we’re rounding up our applications for May-Aug 2011.
