Google for Startups Passport Program

Working abroad for a few days? Land at any of the 50+ participating partners’ spaces and Campus locations. Communitech members are eligible to work flexibly—for free—from any of the Google for Startups network tech hubs for up to 3 days, and longer stays are accommodated at the discretion of the host hub.

Google for Startups Passport Program - Expanded offering

The Google for Startups Passport Expanded Offering program offers startups and scale-ups meaningful engagement with the local ecosystem in-market, and offers valuable support and introductions to enable business growth locally*. Eligible companies can land at either Galvanize (San Francisco, USA), TechHub London (London, UK) or Found8 (Singapore) where they will receive some—or all—of the following supports**:

  • Orientation on local ecosystem.
  • Market deep dive.
  • Introductions to regional VCs, corporates, accelerators and startup community leaders that can benefit company growth.
  • Usage of office space for up to one week.
  • Meeting with 1-2 community Founders.
  • 1:1 with GFS Host Partner CEO.
  • Local event invites (if applicable).

Google for Startups will also amplify things with the following***:

  • Social Media post (Blog, Tweet, Instagram, etc) that highlights the benefits of the program.
  • Startup/scale-up Use Case for content/storytelling.

Ultimately, this program exists to give startups and scale-ups a platform an expedited introduction to a particular international ecosystem. This means your company’s needs around global growth (partnerships, customers), financing (meeting local VCs), or product launches in-market can all be explored. 

* The host Partner reserves the right to limit the number of startups engaging in this program at their hub (globally).
** Subject to change at the discretion of the host Partner
*** Participating startups will participate in a ‘Startup Survey’ for data collection.

Google for Startups Accelerator Canada (virtual)

This accelerator is designed to bring the best of Google’s programs, products, people and technology to startups that leverage machine learning and A.I. in their company today or plan to in the future. In addition to mentorship and technical project support, the accelerator also includes deep dives and workshops focused on product design, customer acquisition and leadership development for founders. 

Beyond what was mentioned above, some other benefits of the accelerator include:

  • Equity-free support.
  • Exclusive invitations to 3 in-person bootcamps hosted at Google.
  • Personalized mentorship and technical support from Google experts.
  • The opportunity to provide feedback to Google product teams.

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Google has decided to make the Accelerator virtual, with the first cohort kicking off in September 2020. Applications are open until June 30, 2020.

Google Tools

Google Cloud for Startups Program 

Google Cloud for Startups empowers startups to grow with the same tools and infrastructure used to build Google. Your startup can take advantage of Cloud credits, community events and training as you scale your business.

Communitech startups and scale-ups are eligible for the value-packed Google Cloud for Startups program, which includes:

  • Up to $100,000 in Cloud and Firebase credit, good for 12 months, as well as additional benefits for G Suite, Google Maps Platform, Google Ads, Qwiklabs, Segment, Stripe Atlas and more.
  • Access to Google engineers for mentorship through office hours.
  • In-depth 1:1 architecture reviews.
  • Invitations to local startup events.

Google Ads Support

If the time is right for your company to grow, the Google Ads team is here to help you.

Communitech connects companies directly with Google Ads experts to help you build an account and optimize your campaigns. A level of support typically reserved for very large clients, eligible Communitech startups can now receive custom campaign creation and dedicated account management for three to six months.

Your company is eligible if:

  • Your minimum Ads budget is $10,000 over three months of advertising ($110/day).
  • You have not spent on Google Ads in the last six months.
  • You are prepared to run a digital marketing campaign now (i.e. you are in a place to promote your company in the short term).
  • You have an understanding of your marketing goals and success metrics.
  • You are willing to provide proper ad copy, display assets, and all other information needed for a successful campaign.

What’s next?

If it sounds like you’re the right fit, you’ll have a free 30-minute initial consultation on your business model and marketing goals. If both sides decide to proceed, you’ll get:

  • A 360-designed strategy proposal tailored to your business needs.
  • Free Google Ads account setup by Google Account Specialist.
  • Free website audit of user experience and site speed.
  • Marketing and competitive insights report created by Google analysts.
  • Dedicated account management support throughout the 3-6 month program.
