Communitech Fierce Founders Accelerator welcomes eight startups for second cohort
Waterloo Region, March 27, 2017— Eight startups begin their first full week of programming at the Communitech Hub today to kick-off the second cohort of the Communitech Fierce Founders Accelerator. The accelerator provides early stage women-led startups up to $30,000 in funding, six-months residency at the Communitech Hub, and mentoring and business support from Communitech’s Executives in Residence team. Cohort two includes:
iRestify Inc, Toronto
Sametrica, Toronto
Heartbeat AI Technologies, Toronto
Chillabit, Edmonton
The Aurea Company, Halifax
Penta Medical, Kitchener
Georgette Packaging, Kitchener
Hunch Manifest, Guelph
The second Fierce Founders cohort attracted startups from across Canada, including Chillabit from Edmonton and Aurea of Halifax. It also includes two former Y-Combinator startups, Georgette Packaging and Chillabit. Heartbeat AI was named Top 5 for SheEO and won $100K through that program. Penta Medical is a previous Fierce Founders Bootcamp winner, and three of the startups— Sametrica, Hunch Manifest and Penta Medical— were selected into VentureOut’s Top 15 Canadian Women in Tech Program in New York City last week.
“This cohort is already standing out as a group of world-class entrepreneurs with significant revenue, traction, and the potential to develop into global companies,” said Danielle Graham, Women in Tech program manager, Communitech.
