What is Communitech?

Communitech is a membership network shaped by the people building tech companies in Waterloo Region.  Supporting Waterloo Region tech since 1997.

Who is Communitech for?

Communitech is for founders and teams building and growing tech companies in Waterloo Region. It's also for people working in tech who want to build relationships, keep learning and stay connected to the local tech community.

What can Communitech offer for tech workers in Waterloo Region?

Communitech offers opportunities to learn, connect and stay involved in Waterloo Region tech. Attend events and workshops, meet people from local tech companies, explore career opportunities and make use of flexible workspace at the Hub. We also share the stories and celebrate the people and companies helping more people discover what's being built in Waterloo Region.

Programs & services

Does Communitech offer programs for startups and scaling companies?

Yes. Communitech offers programs for companies at every stage, from early-stage startups to scaling to established businesses. Topics include growth, leadership, AI adoption, intellectual property and more.

What is AI@Work?

AI@Work helps companies put AI to work by partnering them with students from local post-secondary institutions. Students work alongside company teams on AI projects, helping businesses explore AI while building the next generation of Waterloo Region tech talent.

Does Communitech help companies access capital?

Communitech supports capital readiness and investor connections through introductions, events, investment readiness programs and advisor support.

Does Communitech help with hiring or talent?

Communitech supports talent connections through the Work in Tech job board, events and community networks.

Events

Does Communitech host events?

Yes. Communitech hosts events throughout the year for founders, teams, investors and community members across Waterloo Region. From Techtoberfest and International Women's Day to AI sessions, founder meetups, workshops and industry discussions, there are opportunities to learn, connect and share ideas regularly.

Can non-members attend Communitech events?

Yes. Communitech hosts events that are open to the public. We also host events that are member or invite-only. Event pages clearly list access details.

What is the Communitech Hub?

The Communitech Hub is home to Waterloo Region’s tech community. Located in downtown Kitchener, it’s a place to work, meet people, attend events and spend time with others from local tech companies. The Hub includes private offices, desks, meeting rooms and shared spaces.
