Four new startups moved into the Communitech Rev sales accelerator today, making up the third cohort. They are:

    • Dozr, whose equipment-sharing platform connects construction equipment renters with lenders.
    • Alaunus, a mobile IT platform bringing outdated and inefficient processes in healthcare into the 21st century.
    • CloudWifi, which creates fast and reliable cloud-managed Wi-Fi network services for businesses and consumers.
    • bitHound, which helps software developers build reliable code.

The companies were selected based on their current sales and opportunity to grow their teams.

“I'm keen to get this cohort in house - they're all very different businesses but each has wonderful market opportunities,” said Steve McCartney, Vice President of Communitech’s Startup Services Group. “They’re all at the perfect stage to take advantage of the program, and really drive their sales. It’ll be exciting to see what they are able to accomplish,” McCartney said.

During the next six months, they’ll work closely with Rev’s embedded executives – mentors who go beyond a weekly one-hour meeting, often joining for off-site sales calls or spending the time to perfect websites. The embedded executives team is made up of seasoned professionals, including: Heather Galt, former VP of Marketing at Kik Interactive; Daryl Sherman, serial entrepreneur, focusing on commercialization and sales; and Jeff Fedor, founder of Covarity, with a focus on product.

“It’s important for these companies to understand what a marketing engine and a sales engine look like,” Sherman said. “We help them to understand how these matter to their success by digging deep into their businesses, and looking at sales and customers in a different way.”

Companies will also receive mentoring from sponsors Canon and Deloitte, as well as from the previous cohort. FunnelCake, BluePoint Technology, TallyFi and Knowledgehook are continuing the next phase of the program, implementing the sales and marketing techniques they learned over the first three months.

Communitech Rev takes no equity from its companies. The revolving six-month program welcomes new companies every three months. For information on how to apply for the next cohort beginning May 1, 2016, visit http://www.communitech.ca/rev.
