We are pleased to announce that PeaceWorks has hired Joanne Young Evans to the CEO position. She will be joining PeaceWorks beginning November 11, 2013. Joanne is a passionate, energetic, and empathetic leader. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge after serving more than 15 years with various organizations including her most recent role as Executive Director of Guelph Independent Living. Joanne demonstrates a track record of building mission-driven organizations that are focused, resilient, and outward looking.

Joanne is drawn to PeaceWorks by our mission and by our people. She has developed a genuine appreciation for the culture PeaceWorks has built. She has affirmed her commitment to building on this strong foundation. Joanne has also demonstrated strong alignment with the PeaceWorks mission throughout her professional career and volunteer activities.

She will bring a focus on developing strong networks and partnerships in the not-for-profit sector and deep experience running successful organizations. We look to pair that with the solid technical knowledge already available within PeaceWorks.

Joanne also represents continuity for PeaceWorks, in her sensitivity to organizational culture, in her commitment to mission-driven organizations, and in her desire to have meaningful impact in the community.

We believe that Joanne will succeed in combining PeaceWorks’ social energy with the client focus and business rigor needed to deliver on our mission. This will serve our clients and staff well, and help PeaceWorks grow in its community impact in the coming years.
