Getting dressed shouldn’t be a daily struggle, but for many of us, it is. That’s where Pronti AI comes in. It’s a free app that can help you decide what to wear based on what’s already in your closet. But more than that, it helps users feel confident, ready and more like themselves.
“We’re not just making outfit suggestions,” says Mila Banerjee, Founder, CEO and Tech Lead of Pronti AI. “We’re helping people feel ready for work, for a date and for life.”
Banerjee’s background combines technology, business and problem-solving.
She started coding and building websites as a teenager. Later, she worked in health care and pharmaceuticals, where she focused on using digital tools to improve patient experiences and connect people more effectively.
But it was during her MBA when everything clicked. She realized she wanted to build something of her own that combined tech with human impact.
“I kept hearing people say, ‘I have nothing to wear,’ even though they had full closets,” said Banerjee. “And I thought, what if technology could help with that?”
A personal stylist in your pocket

Pronti AI lets users upload photos of their clothes and then suggests outfit combinations based on what they own. Users can also tell the app how they feel, what their day looks like, or what style they’re going for.
“Most of us don’t naturally know how to mix and match,” said Banerjee. “Pronti gives you options, then you can pick what feels best for you.”
Banerjee says Pronti is helping people feel good, too.
“We hear from users all the time, ‘I used to hate getting dressed, but now I actually enjoy it.”
Style for everyone
Banerjee says Pronti breaks the fashionista stereotype. Its most passionate users include young men, professionals with busy lives, and people whose style doesn’t follow traditional gender norms
“Many people don’t want to dress at either extreme,” said Banerjee. “They just want to dress how they feel, and that changes from day to day. Pronti lets them do that.”
The app adapts to styles over time, learning what users like, what they wear most, and what they avoid. Users can also favourite outfits, give feedback, or even tell Pronti what kind of event they're dressing for.
Growing Pronti AI in Waterloo Region
Banerjee’s journey with Pronti is closely linked to the Waterloo Region tech ecosystem.
“Being in Waterloo, it’s such an amazing tech ecosystem. You have Communitech, the Accelerator Centre, Velocity Incubator, and the University of Waterloo. It’s all right here,” said Banerjee. “You’re surrounded by smart people doing cool things.”
That combination of talent, resources and collaboration turned her idea into a growing company.
Smarter, more sustainable shopping
Another big part of Pronti AI’s mission is reducing waste.
“Most of us have clothes we never wear, sometimes with tags still on,” Banerjee said. “Pronti helps you use what you already have, and shop smarter.”
The app includes a feature called “Shop With Your Closet,” which shows how a new item would work with what someone already owns.
“It’s a way to shop more sustainably,” said Banerjee. “Instead of buying a whole new outfit, you can see if that shirt or those shoes actually go with your closet.”
Pronti AI is aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, especially around responsible consumption, but the focus is always on helping people feel like themselves.
“At the end of the day, we just want to help people feel good when they get dressed,” said Banerjee. “When your clothes work for you, you can focus on the things that really matter.”
