The sun came out as more bikes wheeled up to the Joseph St. entrance of the Tannery. Amid the chatting, coffee drinking and complimentary tune-ups courtesy of Braun’s Cycle stood a satisfied Josh Joseph, Transportation Demand Management Coordinator at the City of Kitchener.

This week is Bike to Work Week and the city, the Region of Waterloo and Travelwise organized a Bike to Work breakfast at the Tannery.

“We really want to encourage people to try a new way of getting to work. Parking costs are rising in downtown and cycling is a great way to get to work,” says Joseph. “People seem to be really joining the momentum in this community for cycling and active transportation.”

Watch for more BikeKitchener events this summer, including a weekly sharrows ride in downtown Kitchener. We’ll see you on your bikes every Tuesday in July and August at noon.
